Were a
community healthcare provider working across the Northwest and we have an
exciting opportunity for Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our team. The post is
based within the Child Development Centre, Sandy Lane, Warrington.
We are a
community-based team, working with children and young people 0-16 years, with a
range of physical and developmental conditions, complex needs and functional
difficulties. We work in a variety of settings, including purpose-built health
centres, mainstream and SEN schools and nurseries, and childrens homes.
Job
Purpose:
Under
the direction of the therapist you will be expected to undertake delegated
duties and report back on the progress made. You will be expected to maintain
accurate electronic patient records and undertake administrative and clerical
work as required by the service.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Therapy
Assistant with good communication skills who can bring relevant experiences to
the post. You will be expected to
deliver and implement treatment programmes devised by the Therapist for
children with a range of medical conditions and presentations, as well as
assisting in the set up and running of different clinics. You will need to be a team player and work
collaboratively with a supportive and integrated Therapy Team.
You will
be receiving regular support and supervision to enable you to complete your
role to a high standard. You will be required to participate in ongoing service
development and contribute to the wider health and education multi-disciplinary
team within your role.

Job duties and
responsibility
To
implement treatment programmes for children with disabilities, children in the
community and maintain records of such, working under indirect supervision or
with the physiotherapist/occupational therapist.
-To
carry out delegated work, reporting back patient progress and informing the
therapist of any problems.
-
To administer clerical work of the physiotherapy / OT department, including
arranging appointments and clinic organisation.
- To administer stock of office
supplies and therapy equipment.
- To carry out specified
treatment programmes as set by qualified staff, and to use experience to report
back any changes or responses to the staff.
- To use treatment modalities
initially as directed by a therapist, using good coordination and handling
techniques to progress through the programme identified. This will involve some
unsupervised contact (work) with the ability to work on own initiative.
-To
carry out joint and individual therapy sessions, in different locations, with
children of varying levels of disability. These children often have behavioural
or learning difficulties, sensory problems (blindness, deafness), or
combinations of such difficulties. These sessions may have minimal direct
supervision by the therapist, but are supervised indirectly.
-To
follow procedures and treatment plans, occasionally working alone in the
community with qualified therapist advice available if needed.
-To
risk assess manoeuvring dependent children in the treatment sessions and to use
experience to position them correctly in chairs etc.
-To
complete maintenance and safety checks on specialist paediatric equipment and
report any problems to therapist / team leader.
-Following
appropriate training, to be able to monitor and review therapy equipment,
including standing frames and specialist seating as fit for purpose and report
any concerns/problems to the qualified therapist/team leader.

Following appropriate training, to be able to demonstrate safe use of therapy
equipment, including standing frames and specialist seating to parents, carers,
education staff and other relevant professionals.

complete organisational and departmental documentation in relation to issuing
of equipment.

use moving/handling techniques in the moving of patients, or equipment

To assist with hydrotherapy sessions ensuring safe transfers in and out of the
pool, undressing and dressing of clients and transfers to staff in the pool.
This often includes contact with bodily fluids and toileting dependent
children. This requires the use of hoists and knowledge of transfer techniques.

people in the pool and by completing pool side duties. .To complete pool safety
