Job summary
A twelve-month
opportunity has arisen to work in the decontamination area of a Community
Equipment Store. As a member of the team, you will be part of a team which
provides a robust cleaning process for medical equipment used in the community,
such as beds and mobility aids, to members of the public to enable them to be
discharged from hospital or to stay safely in their own place of residence.
You will need to be
enthusiastic and hardworking, have excellent communication skills, always show
professionalism and work with dignity and respect. We are looking for someone
who enjoys working with others as part of a team to achieve a common goal.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of a
dedicated team to assist in the decontamination of medical equipment that has
been returned to stores from use within the Community. To ensure that the
equipment is decontaminated in line with Trust guidance for reuse, through a
robust recycling process.

Job responsibilities
Job Purpose:
To work as part of a
dedicated team to assist in the decontamination of medical equipment that has
been returned to stores from use within the Community. To ensure that the
equipment is decontaminated in line with Trust guidance for reuse, through a
robust recycling process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Disassemble
medical equipment and perform manual cleaning stage of decontamination process
in accordance with Trust and national polices.
To
operate the equipment necessary for the decontamination of medical devices
according to manufacturer guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and
Trust Policy.
Prioritise
and process the cleaning of medical equipment to facilitate the smooth running
and the recycling process of medical equipment.
To
recognise and follow the correct decontamination/cleaning procedures as
indicated for multiple types of equipment, eg industrial washer, pressure
washer, steam cleaner, vacuum cleaner adhering to safety protocols and
manufacturers instructions.
To ensure
safe practice in the use of the decontamination machine Ozone Room
complying with strict health and safety protocol, eg alerting others when in
use, ensuring unit is secured.
To be
knowledgeable in the use of chemical cleaning agents demonstrating adherence
to COSHH guidelines and wearing the correct PPE.
To
maintain accurate records of all chemicals used in the decontamination process.
To have a
good understanding of all policies and procedures relevant to the safe
decontamination and use of medical equipment and the traceability processes
involved.
To be responsible for the re-stocking of
chemicals and disposable items required withinthe
department during the working day.
Carry out
the required daily checks on the mechanical equipment used in the
decontamination process.
Report
any equipment faults to the Logistics Service Coordinator
Warehouse/Decontamination in line with manufacturer guidelines, SOP and Trust
Policy.
To
transport any clean equipment into the drying area.
To keep
the warehouse and car park area in a clean and tidy condition in accordance
with risk assessment and Health & Safety regulations.

Exposure
to body fluids/soiled equipment on a daily basis
Working
for long periods with manual cleaning equipment
Exposure
