Job summary

In this role you will lead, motivate, and support the team, providing supervision and support on a regular basis, developing staff to their maximum potential, ensuring a high standard of care and support to patients.

You will create a positive team culture, be open to new ideas, concepts, and innovation alongside partners across the Warrington system.

We expect you to be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the team, including management of sickness absence, performance, appraisals, development etc.

You will provide consistent and visible leadership to ensure productive team working ensuring a high-quality, person-centred service is delivered for our service users. The service promotes equality and diversity, and the patient is offered person centred care with dignity and respect.

As manager you will ensure that service provision complies with all relevant organisational policies and procedures.

You will ensure the proactive planning and effective co-ordination of staff, including staff caseloads and reallocation of resources to meet the of capacity and demand and service priorities. to meet admission avoidance targets.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced team leader to join the Warrington Dermatology Team. You will be recruited into the role of Team Leader; with operational and line management responsibilities across the dermatology service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic team leader ready to take the next step in their management career and join us in providing high quality care and excellent patient experience within a busy dermatology service. You will work alongside experienced senior colleagues to help develop a forward thinking service on their next step of an exciting service transformation journey. You will experience a wide range of operational development opportunities and will have an opportunity to put into practice your well honed, extensive management skills in this busy environment.

Within the department we treat dermatology patients from across Warrington who are referred from GPs and other healthcare professionals across both 2 week cancer waits and routine patient clinics. You will lead and be part of this wider MDT team.

The department engages with both local, regional and national partner agencies to deliver evidence based patient care, the team is currently working on several new patient initiatives focussed on enhancing the already excellent patient experience .

Leadership & Management

To develop a seamless service through close working relationships with all partners to ensure the needs of the service users are met in a holistic manner.

Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that where appropriate locality-based care pathways are developed and delivered as seamlessly as possible in an integrated manner.

Contribute to effective Case Management, Duty Management pathway planning and process review for the service and team members.

Ensure patients rights to make informed decisions, where necessary ensuring appropriate utilisation of risk management strategies and safeguarding procedures.

To ensure understanding, implementation and adherence of organisational policies and procedures by all staff.

Ensure appropriate incident reporting and subsequent action planning and management takes place.

Report to Operational Manager for all monitoring of budgetary matters relating to the service.

To monitor and report on monthly service data, taking appropriate action to allocate resources as appropriate.

To lead on recruitment, retention and staff development and training programmes to meet the needs of service and individual development plans.

To operationally manage and co-ordinate requests for annual leave, sick and study leave to ensure the service has cover.

To ensure and maintain high clinical standards throughout the service that comply with Care Quality Commission and relevant professional body standards.

To ensure all staff maintain appropriate and accurate patient records, in keeping with professional and departmental standards.

Undertake any additional duties as required by senior managers.
