Job summary
We are seeking to recruit several Healthcare Support Worker Apprentices to work in our community Therapy Teams. We are looking for motivated, caring and compassionate people, to join our Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce here at Bridgewater.
These are development roles and an excellent opportunity to study for level 3 sector specific qualification whilst earning a salary, learning on the job and benefitting from the support on offer here at Bridgewater.
The HCSW apprenticeship is a 12 18month programme, the successful candidates will be paid at band 2. Completion of the apprenticeship is a condition of employment for this post. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, the postholders will progress to a band 3 Therapy Assistant role in the Organisation and be in a good position to apply for further progression opportunities.
Successful candidates will be based with one of a number of community therapy teams on a full-time basis in either Halton or Warrington.
Applicants will need to be able to either evidence prior achievement of GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4-5 or above or equivalent Level2 English and Maths qualifications OR evidence ability and willingness to achieve these qualifications as part of the apprenticeship.
Main duties of the job
Apprentices will spend some of their paid working hours attending classroom-based teaching at Riverside College, Widnes and receive support from the college and the Trust to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors required for the job role.
The main purpose of the role is to work as an integral member of the team to provide excellent patient care and support to patients and families in the community setting.
These roles could include working with some or all the following disciplines:
Physiotherapy
Occupational Therapy
Speech and Language Therapy
Podiatry
There will be opportunity to express preferences as the recruitment journey progresses.
The postholder will learn to:
Undertake clinical interventions under the direction of a registered Healthcare Professional
Maintain accurate documentation on the IT System/records
Assist in ensuring equipment/environment is clean according to the Infection Control Guidelines
Liaise with other clinicians / administration, reporting as appropriate
To provide a clerical support function for the team
