Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a General Practitioner with Extended Role to
join our community paediatric service and develop our expanding skill mix. This is a new and exciting
opportunity for experienced, enthusiastic and flexible candidates with
innovative ideas to help shape and compliment the Community Paediatric services
in Bridgewater in Halton Borough. We provide a comprehensive range of community
paediatric medical and co-located services for children and young people who
have neurodevelopmental needs (including ASD and ADHD), disabilities, special
educational and social needs including Children in Care (CIC). The service is
delivered from a recently refurbished self-contained Child Development Centre
and/or peripheral clinics.
It is anticipated that the applicant will develop a specific role, subject to
their experience and interest and dependant on the departments requirements. A programme of training and supervision
will be developed in partnership with the successful candidate as required.
Applications
are invited from suitably qualified General Practitioners who are committed to
working in a multidisciplinary setting and keen to support service development.
By your application and C.V. you will be able to demonstrate that you have the
necessary skills and experience to enable you to work autonomously within the
specific role.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the General Practitioner with Extended
Role within Community Paediatrics is to provide a high-quality
service supporting Children and Young People to receive assessment,
investigation, diagnosis and appropriate support to optimise their quality of
life.
The GP with Extended Role (GPwER) is a GP who undertakes, in addition to their core general
practice, a role that is beyond the scope of GP training and that may require
further training. The GP
will work in and develop a specific area of expertise within the service
delivered.
One key
distinction is that a GPwERs management of the patient extends beyond the
medical model, and as a GP you will bring important additional skills in
practising holistically and dealing with complexity and uncertainty.
This new role is part of a well-established team of
Consultants and Specialty Grade Doctors as well as a range of staff, including
specialist Nurses. The Doctors work closely with
Bridgewater paediatric therapy staff, Health Visitors and School Nurses as part
of a Community Team working to support children and young people with additional
needs in Community.
The Bridgewater Community Doctors (Halton and Warrington)
support each other and meet for shared learning opportunities.
