We are
seeking to recruit a Community Specialty Doctor to join our service This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic
and flexible candidates with innovative ideas to help shape the Community
Paediatric services in Bridgewater Halton Borough. We provide a comprehensive
range of community paediatric medical and co-located services for children and
young people who have neurodevelopmental needs,
disabilities, special educational and social needs. You will work alongside consultants,
specialist nurses, community pharmacist, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech
therapy and operational manager. The service is delivered from a recently refurbished
self-contained Child Development Centre.
We are committed to excellence in
child and family centred care and work closely with multiagency teams including
CAMHS and acute Paediatrics. You will be joining a team of 3 WTE Community
Paediatric Consultants, Specialist Registrar, Specialist Nursing team, Clinical
Pharmacist and Administrative staff. We have close clinical links with the Warrington Borough meeting for shared learning and joint service
development in community paediatrics. You will have Consultant supervision
with the
opportunity to develop new skills and undertake further training as part of
career progression. The department does not currently undertake child protection
medicals however competence in this would be desirable. You will have use of office
facilities, secretarial support and excellent IT provision.
Main duties of the job
Duties
and Responsibilities
Clinical
(under
appropriate supervision);
Specialist
paediatric assessment of children referred where there are concerns regarding
neurodevelopmental problems or neurodisability.
Specialist
paediatric assessment of children coming into care (CIC) and related
activities.
To
undertake clinics and to provide support to more junior doctors where appropriate;
includes integrated working with education and social services staff
If
child protection medical provision resumes within the Department; to assess
children referred by Social Services or Police and to participate in the
daytime hours child protection rota. To be involved in peer review for Child
Protection cases
To
provide prescriptions for the caseload of children treated for ADHD and sleep
difficulties on rota basis.
To be
part of the multidisciplinary assessment and diagnosis process for children
referred to the service, including ASD, ADHD and other clinical conditions including
occasional attendance at relevant pathway and operational group meetings
To be
involved in provision of advice and outcome focused information for those who
require EHCPs for Halton and West Cheshire.
To provide
high quality service delivery including high quality case records, ensuring
adherence to professional best practice.
Partnership
working
with Local Authority, Hospital Paediatric services, CAMHS, Education and
Social Services colleagues.

diagnosis and appropriate support to optimise their quality of life. This role is part of a well-established

Bridgewater AHP staff, Health Visitors and School Nurses as part of a Community

interests if possible.
The
Bridgewater Community Doctors (Halton and Warrington) support each other and
meet for shared learning opportunities.
As a
Specialty Doctor you will have appropriate Secretarial support, IT facilities
and office space. Bridgewater uses SystmOne as their patient management
system.
To
participate in the training of Medical Students, Nurses, Therapists, Education
and Social Services staff and voluntary groups and other staff as
appropriate.
To participate
in medical and postgraduate training when required by the organisation
To
undertake safeguarding training at level 3 which will include the training
required at levels 1-2.
Accountability
and Review
The
Community Paediatric Specialty Doctor is responsible to the Clinical Director
in Community Paediatrics and accountable to Bridgewater Medical Director and
ultimately to the Trust Board. Appropriate
job plans will be reviewed / agreed with the Speciality Doctor on an annual
basis by the Clinical Director
