audiologist based in the Northwest. Great location for those living in
Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester, or surrounding areas.
This job is a fantastic opportunity for those with
an interest in paediatric audiology who want to gain more knowledge and
progress to the role of senior paediatric audiologist. The applicant is
expected to be progressing within their career and aspiring to increase their
skills within the paediatric field.
We are a friendly team who actively encourage and
support further educational development, and the successful candidate will have
the opportunity to attend the Anne Davies Paediatric Audiology course.
The service is being delivered from dedicated,
purpose-built paediatric audiology suites in a community set up, therefore it
is essential that the successful candidate can travel throughout the boroughs
of Halton, St Helens & Knowsley to meet the service needs.
Main duties of the job
Job Purpose
To be a member of a
multidisciplinary team providing a comprehensive and integrated community
Paediatric Audiology service for babies, children, and young adults.
To develop paediatric
audiology skills progressing from a band 5 paediatric audiologist to a band 6
senior paediatric audiologist on achievement of competencies
Work both as a team and autonomously to manage own clinics
and individual workload.
Complete specialist work which includes:
comprehensive testing and diagnostic
assessments of hearing
in-depth knowledge of paediatric
test protocols, and assessment techniques.
manage hearing loss in infants and
children
carry out hearing aid maintenance

- Perform diagnostic hearing assessment on pre-school and school age children and analyse the results, including:
- Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
- Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
- Performance testing
- Speech discrimination testing
- Tests of middle ear function using tympanometry
- Otoacoustic Emissions
- Complete audiological testing of babies that are referred following their newborn hearing screen, using Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) to detect cochlear function.
- Carry out otoscopy following BSA recommended procedures
- identify any contraindications or indications for further procedures e.g. tympanometry and aural impression taking.
- Identify atypical or abnormal ear conditions and make appropriate onward referrals
- Take accurate and safe impressions of the ear following BSA recommended procedures for impression taking.
- Arrange referral to other professionals for treatment/management when required, following local and national guidance. E.g. referring to ENT for management of middle ear effusion.

- Experience in managing infants and children with hearing loss.
