Job summary

We are seeking to recruit 2 further Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) Apprentices to work in our community nursing teams. We are looking for motivated, caring and compassionate people to join our nursing workforce here at Bridgewater.

This is a development role and is an excellent opportunity to study at foundation degree level whilst earning a salary, learning on the job and benefitting from the support on offer here at Bridgewater.

The TNA apprenticeship is a 2-year programme, the successful candidates will be paid at band 3. Completion of the apprenticeship is a condition of employment for this post. Upon successful completion of the 2-year programme and receipt of an NMC Pin Number, the postholder will progress to a band 4 Registered Nursing Associate role in the Organisation.

Successful candidates will be based with one of the following two community nursing teams on a full time basis;

Intermediate Care Padgate House, Warrington

District Nursing Chapelfields Clinic, Widnes

From September 2023 the postholder will attend Liverpool John Moores University 1 day per week.

Applicants will need to be able to evidence GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above or evidence of an equivalent English and Maths qualification and evidence of previous study at Level 3 or above.

Main duties of the job

The Trainee will:

  • Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a registered nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.
  • Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS and Bridgewater values.
  • Work as part of a designated clinical team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
  • Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities, to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals dependent on setting.
  • Work with a supervisor taking responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace, while on external placements and through attending the Nursing Associate university programme of study.
  • Provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of the Nursing Associate programme.

On completion of the Nursing Associate apprenticeship, they will have developed the ability to work without direct supervision; at times delivering care independently in line with the individuals defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Nursing Associate role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the scope of the role of a Registered Nursing Associate and how the role may contribute to service development.
