Job summary
The post holder will be an essential member of the Salaried Dental Service working as part of a team of clinicians within West Sector of the Dental Network within Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be working as a junior oral surgeon within our team of oral surgery specialists within the Cheshire and Merseyside area of the Dental Network of Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
This post involves the provision of tier 2 oral surgery on patients who have been referred into the service by their general dental practitioners and it is suitable for an applicant wishing to develop their oral surgery skills
The post is based within the areas we serve within Cheshire and Merseyside and the location of work will be based on service need.
Main duties of the job
Triage of oral surgery cases as they arrive to us from the referral management centre.Cases accepted as suitable for our service will be assessed and listed for treatment.
Provision of a tier 2 oral surgery service which includes the surgical removal of uncomplicated wisdom teeth, the surgical removal of buried/ retained roots, the surgical removal of ectopic teeth and surgical endodontics of incisors, canines and premolars.
The successful candidate will work alongside more experienced colleagues so help and advice will be available. It will be seen as a development post
Communicate with all members of the clinical team and provide information to Senior Dentists or Clinical Director / Assistant Clinical Director.
Refer patients to other dental professionals as treatment determines
Run the clinical environment and the immediate dental team
Demonstrate application of the principals of ethical behaviour relating to dentistry, including honesty, confidentiality, professional integrity and compliance with the Standards for Dental Professionals laid down by the GDC
Ensure CPD needs are met by actively participating in the PDR annual review using same as a basis for discussion to identify training needs. Participate in Job Planning and gather evidence to demonstrate competencies set for the post.
Other duties as may from time-to-time be delegated by the Clinical Director or other authorised officer.
