Job summary
We are
looking for patient centric, tenacious and dynamic individuals to help deliver
a new and exciting quality framework within the Community Dental Service.
The post
holder will be required to work full time as a Patient Care Advisor as part of
our team in Middleton.
They will be
responsible for the processing of referrals, booking of appointments and waitlist
management duties associated with the Community Dental Service inclusive of any
associated clerical and typing duties.
The role
will be trialing new methods to demonstrate service and quality improvements
that support efficiencies in waitlist management and improved quality in
patient experience
The position
is fundamentally for the post at Brooke
House, however, we adopt a flexible working approach across the wider Dental
Directorate footprint. Therefore, travel may on occasion be required in order
to attend meetings, training or to cover colleagues at other premises.

- First point of contact for
patients who are attending dental appointments.
- To use
in house IT systems.
- To
operate the SOEL patient administration system for the Dental Service. This
will include booking appointments, collecting patient registration details,
exemption status documentation, inputting data onto the computer and eliciting
simple symptom information.
- To carry out general clerical duties as requested by
the team e.g. photocopying; filing,
printing of documents.
- To
facilitate the provision of dental appointments with other dental providers.
- To
answer telephone enquiries and take messages as appropriate.
- To courtesy
call patients on a daily basis to confirm appointments in order to maximise
slot utilisation.
- To
maintain high standards of communication skills and promote a positive image of
our service.
- To
provide information and answers queries relating to accessing NHS dental
services.

patients re accessing the out of hours Emergency Dental Service
- Ability
to exhibit a calm and professional manner when dealing with difficult patients.

procedures including the confidentiality policy and the data protection act.

post, as shall be determined from time to time.
- To collect data as part of organized and
approved audits e.g. patient satisfaction questionnaires.
