Job summary

This role will be Agenda for Change Band 4 during the fixed term period and will then be permanent and be Agenda for Change band 5 upon successful completion of the course. These vacancies are available within 3 of our LMWS partners - Community Links, Touchstone and Leeds Community Healthcare, and you may be offered a role with any of these employers. Main duties of the job

A great opportunity has arisen to recruit Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (T-PWPs) for Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service. These posts will involve completing the PWP course at Bradford University, alongside working in clinical practice within LMWS, leading to qualification as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. The posts are temporary fixed term for 12 months and will only be made permanent subject to successful completion and qualification from the course. Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners assess and treat people with common mental health problems. You will be trained to use CBT-based Low Intensity interventions, including guided self-help, psycho-education and computerised CBT, to help the recovery of people with depression and anxiety. You will be expected to manage a small caseload while in training, and develop competence with systems of risk assessment and case management supervision. The majority of assessment work conducted by our practitioners is by telephone.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day co-ordination of the teams duty and allocation responsibilities and will work within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

  • For the level 7 course, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or higher
  • For the level 6 course, candidates should be able to evidence of successful study at Level 5.
  • However, the University would be willing to work with an appointable candidate to evaluate their ability to produce work that would pass Level 6 submission requirements if they cannot provide evidence of successful study at level 5. Such candidates will be required to demonstrate a higher level of insight into the skills needed to work with people with mood and anxiety disorders either through work experiences or through carer / lived experience.
  • Both certificates are accredited by the BPS and provide equal qualification for practice, the difference is the rubric that the University uses to mark the written academic submissions.
