Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service for people who are looking to progress their mental health career by training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy via a Post-Graduate Diploma at IAPT High Intensity level.

LMWS is a consortium of partners comprising a number of healthcare providers. The specific Hi Intensity posts will be with one of the following providers:

To study this course, you must have a relevant core mental health profession or be able to demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and attitudes via a KSA

Main duties of the job

From January 2023 you will attend Teeside University 1 day per week and spend the rest of the week learning and practicing the skills and techniques to become a qualified HIT Step 3 CBT Therapist. You must be willing to travel and attend university alongside providing face-to-face clinical sessions where necessary. Upon successfully completing your training and qualifying you will become a Band 7 HIT CBT Therapist.. PWPs should have a minimum of two years post qualification experience in line with national IAPT guidelines. All other KSA candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant mental health related work experience, as well as a range of formal and informal training to have met the KSA. If you are invited to an interview, you must provide evidence that you can study at postgraduate level and satisfy course entry requirements.

The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

1.7.Prioritises their own workload, and that of the wider team, within agreed objectives deciding when to refer to others as appropriate.

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree with second class honours or equivalent in a discipline connected to Mental Health (e.g. Psychology) Those without an undergraduate qualification but with evidence of the ability to study at third year of undergraduate degree level will also be considered.
  • OR Qualified in a mental health profession (e.g. social work, OT, CPN, clinical or counselling psychologist, psychiatrist) and have at post qualification experience
  • OR Candidates who do not have a BABCP recognised core professional training can apply if they meet the BABCP Knowledge Skills and Attitude criteria. They will need to bring a KSA portfolio to the interview.
  • Evidence of meeting the Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) requirements of BABCP (candidates are required to produce a full and complete KSA portfolio for assessment at interview).
  • Candidates who are qualified as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) must have two years post-qualification experience working as a PWP (taken from the date of their exam board).

Desirable

  • Supporting Learning in Practice (SLIP) or equivalent.
  • Leadership and management training ILM 3 or equivalent.
