ICAN are looking for a motivated Health Care Assistant to join our existing Nursing Team
You should have experience of working with children and young people, ideally this would include those with additional needs and their families. You will have a commitment to team working and excellent standards of care within your work. The position will be primarily based at one of the three ICAN Hubs across the city, whilst you will be based at one centre predominantly, you will be required to cover across the city and have access to a car to travel independently. Working hours for the role are 0830-5pm over 4 days. On occasions you may need to work after these hours if clinics run over.

Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate a caring, compassionate approach to your work with children and families. You should be reliable, flexible and work well in a team. You will have a Level 3 NVQ qualification related to caring or equivalent experience. Successful completion of NHS Care Certificate would be beneficial.
You will work alongside colleagues and independently run clinics. The role includes measuring childrens growth, taking blood pressures, testing urine, chaperoning children, and supporting the Paediatricians in clinic. The role also requires the successful candidate to take blood from children. Training will be offered for these skills.
Children who attend clinics may have neurodevelopmental conditions; others attend for child protection medicals. It is important that you display sensitivity to the differing needs of families from the diverse community within Leeds. Maintaining confidentiality and client safety is essential in this role.
You should have excellent IT skills and ability to record information accurately and in a timely manner. This role involves completing health promotion displays, ordering medical supplies and contributing to audits.

Job Purpose
The post holder will be providing
direct and indirect patient care independently but with support available from
a supervisor within the clinical area. In doing so, they will support the
assessment of service users and implementation of programmes of care delegated
to them by the appropriate staff member ensuring that they practice within
their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work within a
range of procedures and pathways in which they have received training in order
to be competent.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical

Support and assist other staff members to
deliver care as delegated and directed

Demonstrates developed physical skills obtained

levels and reports to clinician, ensuring that accurate and timely record
keeping is achieved

Able to identify risk or changes in condition
and are responsible for taking action and alerting the appropriate staff member

using persuasion, reassurance, tact and empathy and addressing barriers to
understanding to engage the individual
