BAND 5 to 6 PROGRESSION POST

Suitable for a newly qualified/currently working as a Band 5 dietitian with some paediatric experience.

We are looking for a qualified dietitian who is passionate about supporting the delivery of an effective, responsive and caring service for the children of Leeds. This post is permanent, flexible (hybrid working) up to full time 37.5hrs per week. You will join the team as a band 5 dietitian, and then progress Band 6 Specialist Dietitian once competencies have been achieved.

The Children's Team currently consists of 11 staff, including admin/dietetic assistant. We pride ourselves in supporting each other through peer support and clinical leadership team. We work closely with hospital colleagues, commissioners and paediatricians.

All staff are provided with a laptop and smart phone for hybrid working/remote access to SystmOne. Interviews will be 7th June 2023.

Main duties of the job

You will work with children from 0-19 years and their families/carers. Children are referred from primary care and child health colleagues within acute and community organisations in Leeds. Full training will be provided to allow you to manage a caseload of children with feeding difficulties and nutritional issues.

This includes food intolerances such as Cows Milk Protein Intolerance (CMPI), as well as faltering growth and fussy eating. Families are seen in clinics / schools or at home either via telephone, virtually or face to face. In time, you will also progress to managing a complex caseload of home enterally fed children who are who are either seen in clinics or schools. We often liaise with wider teams that can include social services, education, safeguarding and other healthcare professionals.

The post holder will be responsible for their designated workload within their speciality area with access to the support, advice and management from a senior clinician whilst not directly supervised. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional protocols and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in the best available evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

1.5. Engages and actively involves the individual and, if appropriate, their family/carer, in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of treatment and/or care by using person-centred techniques to promote a culture of involvement and empowerment

1.6. Works to standards of proficiency identified by their professional and regulatory bodies performing clinical treatments/procedures to a competent standard
