Job summary

Following a successful project to introduce Liaison role within Leeds CAMHS services we are now able to offer permanent posts as a Liaison Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity for a mental health practitioner with professional registration to join Leeds CAMHS.

You must have experience of working in mental health services and have an interest in working with children, adolescents, and families, you must have excellent communication, negotiation and supervisory skills as well as a strategic vision for how liaison roles can lead to better outcomes.

You will be required to travel between Community settings and the Teaching Hospitals Ideally, you will have the flexibility to work across the 7 day week but predominately Monday - Friday.

Appropriate for newly qualified, set level competencies to be completed for progression to band 6.

Main duties of the job

As the CAMHS Liaison Practitioner you will provide input to the wards across Leeds teaching hospital trust. You will be responsible for ensuring young people get the appropriate mental health assessment, treatment, advice and consultation in relation to a range of complex difficulties. You will also provide advice and support to families and carers. As well as offering and developing bespoke training for LTHT staff.

We are committed to developing our team and you will have opportunities to undertake relevant training. You will be able to develop your leadership skills contribute to training and educating others, offering clinical supervision to junior colleagues and supporting students.

You will work alongside the CAMHs Crisis and other teams and will have the opportunity to maximise your own knowledge base and experience underpinned by an effective appraisal and clinical supervision.

The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

1.6. Works to standards of proficiency identified by their professional and regulatory bodies performing clinical treatments/procedures to a competent standard

1.7. Prioritises their own workload, and that of the wider team, within agreed objectives deciding when to refer to others as appropriate.

1.8. Provides and receives complex, sensitive or contentious information where motivational, persuasive, empathetic, negotiating and reassurance skills are required whilst demonstrating an understanding of barriers to communication

Essential

  • 1. Professional degree or diploma in relevant field, i.e. Nursing, Social Worker, OT.
  • 2. Your appropriate statutory professional body registration this must be with either NMC/SWE/HCPC.
  • 3. Teaching, training or mentorship qualification or experience to an equivalent level.
  • 4. Willing to participate in any relevant training identified to develop skills required to carry out duties.

Desirable

  • 1. Non-Medical prescribing.
  • 2. Leadership and management training, ILM 3 or equivalent.
  • 3. Specific CPD modules relevant to specialist field.
