Job summary
We currently have a vacancy (30 hours per week) for a Dysphagia Trained Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Leeds Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service to work as part of the Community Feeding Team. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible team member who has experience of managing their own Dysphagia caseload. Experience of managing Dysphagia in infants is desirable.
We are a very supportive and inclusive team with highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapists working across several different specialist pathways across the service. We will support your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through our varied in-house training programme aimed at sharing best practice and learning across SLT colleagues. We also provide support from the wider Speech and Language Therapy team with access to supervision with peers and other SLTs. We offer a strong management and peer support structure including access to regular clinical and safeguarding supervision and a wide range of opportunities for CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a
suitably trained SLT with a dysphagia qualification and experience in working
with children and young people with feeding and swallowing difficulties. You
will be a motivated, enthusiastic and flexible individual with a team working ethos.
You will have experience of managing your own Dysphagia caseload and be able to
work alongside a multitude of professionals. You will have excellent time
management skills and be able to manage a fast paced working environment where
high quality care is the focus for the children and families accessing the
community feeding team service. Experience of managing Dysphagia in infants is
desirable.
You will work within the wider MDT, liaising with a range of professionals including Medical Teams and Dietitians (within LCHT and LTHT) and linking with our LTHT SLT colleagues for attendance at Videofluoroscopies.
The Community Feeding Team is a city-wide service, and you will be expected to carry out Home visits alongside visits to Educational Settings as required.
