Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to work for Leeds Community Healthcare (NHS) as a Domestic caretaker. You will provide a vital role in maintaining a quality cleaning service to the Health Centre. Post 1. 20-hour post at Pudsey Health Centre 4.00pm-8.00pm Monday-Friday Post 2. The relief post is 35 hours, this is a split shift start time of 6am-9.30am then returning to work 4.00pm-8.00pm Monday-Friday, this post maybe considered as a job share Relief Post to cover across the city, Area of cover to be discussed at interview citywide covering will be required on occasions

Main duties of the job

You will be using approved working methods with equipment, cleaning materials and work procedures for the following:- Sanitary areas, furniture, fixtures, and fittings at high and low level. Maintain carpeting areas, upholstery and hard flooring. Ensuring high standards of cleaning of furniture, fixtures, and fittings in clinical and office areas Previous cleaning experience desirable; however, full training will be given. You must have a driving license and your own transport that can be used for business use, if you are applying for a relief post. You must be open and honest and be able to work using your own initiative and work well within a team. You must have good communication skills with others and participate well in appraisals. You will be able to receive feedback and be keen to learn. Basic IT skills would be of an advantage to complete competency and compliance training online.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To work as a member of the facilities team carrying out a range of duties which includes cleaning in departments, wards and public areas to a high standard of quality in line with Patient Environment’ practices and policies. Working to standards and practices laid down in Trust policy and Facilities practices and procedures manuals and national initiatives as part of the Patient Environment Standards.

• Complete the cleaning of departments/public areas/wards using the approved methods and equipment to a high standard.

• To follow the agreed work schedule for the functional area allocated.

• Act on feedback given from any quality control system.

• To follow any reasonable instruction from local supervisor/manager as necessary.

• The disposal of refuse and soiled/infected linen in accordance with Trust policies and the cleaning of refuse holders.

• The use of floor maintenance machines and other electrical equipment as required. For example: Scrubbing machine, Scrubber drier, Carpet Shampooer, wet pick-up machine, safety steps

• The changing of curtains and blinds as necessary.

• To ensure that all equipment and materials are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition and that any faults are reported immediately to the supervisor. Any other duties as may be reasonably required by line management commensurate with the grade of the post. Only takes place after appropriate training and support given.

• Maintain pre-determined standards of cleanliness which will be regularly monitored.

Qualifications

Essential

  • English at GCSE level grade 9 to 4 or equivalent level of written and oral communication skills

Desirable

  • Basic IT qualification
  • Formal Qualifications (NVQ level 1 or 2)
  • Health & Safety/COSHH training/awareness
  • You must have a driving license and your own transport that can be used for business use, if you are applying for a relief post
