Join our Flexible Bank Team: Were looking for experienced Registered Nurses and Paramedics to join our flexible bank team and deliver healthcare in one of the most unique clinical settings you'll ever experience. - You'll be right at the heart of real-life policing
- working alongside officers, solicitors, and custody staff, providing medical care to people in police detention. Some will be vulnerable, some will be unpredictable, and no two days will be the same.
- Patient assessment is the core element of the role, whether it is for intoxication, withdrawal, minor illness, injury or mental health. Making sure that health is compatible with detention (fitness to detain) and individuals are suitable to be interviewed (fit to interview).
- Medication Administration - ensure safe, accurate medication delivery in line with clinical guidelines.
- Mental Health Support Assess and support detainees in crisis.
- Emergency Care Manage acute illnesses and injuries with rapid decision-making.
Main duties of the job
- Providing advice to the police on how to manage individuals detained in police custody
- Forensic Sampling Take blood samples for evidential purposes, following strict legal protocols.
- Applicants must be confident in their clinical assessment skills and decision-making.
- HCPs will be requested to provide written statements and occasionally provide evidence in court. Further training and support will be offered if necessary.
What were looking for:
- Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic with at least 3 years post-registration experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK & eligible for police vetting (must have lived in the UK for 3+ years, no gaps abroad over 3 months).
- Desirable (but not essential) Experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, prison healthcare, custody.
- A compassionate and confident professional with a can do attitude.
- Professionals who are committed to providing high quality healthcare to all, regardless of circumstance.
- Individuals who can commit to:
- A paid 3-day remote induction (delivered via MS teams either over three separate days or as a block)
- Followed by four supernumerary shifts over four consecutive weeks to consolidate induction learning and achieve competency sign-off.
- ongoing commitment to at least one shift per month to maintain clinical competence.
