Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy ward Manager to join our team on the Inpatient Ward of Whitchurch Community Hospital. The main function of this role is to support the Ward Manager to:

- Provide effective clinical leadership and management to lead and motivate the team.
- Promote and monitor safe and effective practice.
- Enhance the patient/client experience.
- Promote cohesive team working.
- Contribute to the delivery of the organisation's objectives.

Main duties of the job
- Ensure that care delivered to patients is evidenced based, meet's their needs and wishes, provides appropriate clinical outcomes and achieves high standards of a patient experience.
- Support the Ward Manager to ensure all staff understand the 'essential standards of quality and safety and ensure that these are met and that fundamental care is delivered in the most professional, kind, sensitive and appropriate way.
- Ensure self and team are aware of all Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and that these are applied in every day practice.
- Ensure self and team adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Support the Ward Manager to ensure that the ward team possess the knowledge, skills and competence to effectively fulfil the care needs of older people and those with long term conditions.
- Identify and take effective measures to prevent and control infection in accordance with local and national policy and provide care based on the highest standards, knowledge and competence.
- Implement the delivery of consistent implementation, monitoring and evaluation of best practice in:
- Pressure ulcer prevention and management.
- Falls prevention.
- Catheter Care.
- Hydration & Nutrition.
- Infection Prevention Control.
