Job summary

Shropshire Community Dental Service have an exciting opportunity for dental nurse candidates to be a part of the Dental Advice Line (DAL) team for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.

This is a service which provides dental nurse led triage for dental patients trying to access urgent dental care across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, as well as signposting patients looking for routine dental care to an appropriate provider. The DAL is operational between 0800-1700 and 1800-2100.

In addition to this primary role, successful candidates will provide chairside dental nursing within the community dental service, in order to maintain their dental nursing competencies.

Main duties of the job

  • Candidates should have good IT skills, as they will need to work with different computer systems, and good telephone communication skills.
  • Successful candidates will be asked to be part of a rota to support the evening provision of the DAL (1800-2100) and provision of urgent care within our existing evening on call dental service.
  • The DAL is primarily based at Shrewsbury Community Dental, but there will be an opportunity for some home-based work using a cloud based call management system.
  • Applicants will be required to meet the travel commitments of the post.
  • We will provide a comprehensive induction and training program and uniform/PPE will be provided.
  • This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.
  • Candidates should hold an active GDC registration.
