Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Band 3 MSK Rehabilitation Technician to join our friendly Outpatient Physiotherapy Team in Whitchurch Hospital. This busy department provides a high standard of MSK physiotherapy assessment and treatment to the local community of Whitchurch and the surrounding area.

This post would be suitable for an experienced Band 2 or existing Band 3 Rehabilitation Technician, demonstrating a good range of experience and skills. Professional support is provided by senior Physiotherapists in the team and we encourage clinical supervision and training.

The post holder will work as part of the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Team to deliver high quality care to clients with a range of musculoskeletal conditions, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and senior Physiotherapists. Your role will also include supporting the team in the day-to-day running of the department. Please ensure you meet the requirements of the person specification before applying.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a member of the Outpatient Physiotherapy Team under the supervision of the senior Physiotherapists within the team.
  • To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients, with a range of conditions.
  • To treat patients according to set protocols and advice from trained staff, monitoring patient progress and making minor alterations to patient treatment programmes and informing the therapist of any problems/alterations.
  • To work effectively as part of the outpatient team in providing therapeutic goal based programmes to service users.
  • To apply knowledge and skills to engage patients in therapeutic programmes to promote independence and wellbeing.
  • To assist in the implementation, evaluation and modification of a range of activities that support the patient's identified goals.
  • To use effective communication tools, verbal and non-verbal to communicate treatment programmes to patients who may have barriers to understanding or communicating eg deaf, blind, dysphasic or who do not have English as their first language.
  • To recognise the need to refer back to the physiotherapist to identify contra-indications and report and monitor progress.
  • To treat patients individually or in a group without the direct supervision or presence of the physiotherapist e.g. in specialist groups.
  • To provide IT, clerical and administrative support the physiotherapy team.
