Job summary

If you are a likeminded finance professional then Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust has an opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Management Accountant to join its high performing Finance Team.

Reporting to the Head of Management Accounting, you will be an integral part of the Finance team providing a responsive and reliable financial management service ensuring the provision of quality financial advice and information to managers across all services, as well as other stakeholders across the Trust.

Based in Shrewsbury with flexible working available, the post will be for a fixed term of 12 months.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial advice to managers and budget holders, from the preparation of annual budgets and business plans, to supporting business cases and service developments to drive service improvements, productivity and efficiencies. In addition, there will be a high focus on forecasting along with supporting the delivery and monitoring of CIP schemes.

The post holder will line manage a small team and provide ad-hoc support to other members of the finance team as required.

  • Developed experience in influencing, negotiating and communicating with senior managers and external organisations.
  • Experience of implementing and developing financial controls.
  • Experience of providing finance training to non-finance staff.

Knowledge

  • Highly developed understanding of the NHS financial regime including the budgeting process.
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, persuade and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Numeracy and an eye for detail, capable of working quickly to a high standard of accuracy/
  • Expert in use of Microsoft Excel and competent in computerised General Ledger package and other Microsoft products.
  • Understanding of NHS financial operating frameworks, regulatory requirements, legislation, SFIs, SOs and Scheme of Delegation.
