Job summary

Applicants are invited for the above post to join The Podiatry and Foot Health Service.

You will be responsible for providing Diabetes foot screening within podiatry clinics and GP surgeries, supporting the podiatrists in nail surgery clinics and providing a high standard of administrative support, ensuring effective stock control, monitoring compliance with Infection Prevention control policies and providing assistance for the clinical teams at our locations across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

You will be a member of a dedicated team but equally you must be able to work alone for the majority of your time. Your role will be supported by Podiatrists however you will work on your own in a variety of locations to carry out moderate risk diabetes foot screening and ensuring clinics are safe and clean for our patients.

You must possess excellent administrative and time management skills, be a self starter, computer literate and be able to deal with complex information, complaints and at times, contentious patients.

Training on how to carry out Diabetes Foot Screening and other aspects of the role will be provided so previous experience is not essential.

You must also be able to meet the travel commitments for this post and access to a vehicle is essential.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be enthusiastic and self motivated with knowledge and experience of caring for people.

You will need to be able to work around Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin under remote supervision of a podiatrist. your main duty will be to provide diabetes foot screening which involves accurate use of screening equipment, categorising risk status and providing information to patients to encourage engagement with maintaining foot health.

You will also assist a podiatrist within nail surgery sessions and support the IPC compliance of the various podiatry clinics. You will join a team of 3 other podiatry assistants and will receive initial training, ongoing training.
