An exciting
opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 developmental post within Shropshire,
Telford & Wrekin. This post offers a
fantastic opportunity to develop your podiatric and leadership skills to Band 6
level within the service with the guidance of a mentor.
We provide
a flexible, responsive, solution focused holistic service for our patient caseload
within a variety of clinics which include Nail Surgery, paediatric, adult MSK,
high risk diabetes and wound care, we also work closely with our Tissue
Viability colleagues and provide a Diabetes consultant led MDT service across
the County.
It is
essential you can fulfill the travel requirements of this role with access to a
vehicle for work purposes as our clinics cover the area of Shropshire, Telford
& Wrekin.
Main duties of the job
Our service
undertakes mainly high-risk clinical work and we do not provide a social nail
cutting service.
We are a forward-looking
team, and your main duties are to provide evidence based, patient centered care
to assess, plan and deliver holistic individual treatment plans to our
patients. Referring on or delegating responsibility as appropriate. You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, conscientious,
and flexible team player and have good clinical, communication and
organizational skills.

- Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience of surgical procedures, biomechanical examinations and orthotic prescription techniques and provision.
- Able to deal with stressful situations such as bereavement, verbal abuse, busy clinics and anxious patients.
- Candidates should have the ability to work as a member of the team.
- Possess good organisational skills and be competent to work without supervision, as candidates will be expected to manage their own caseload and to accept responsibility for the day-to-day running of the clinics in which they work.
- Computer literacy skills.
- Have the ability to move between different geographical locations within Shropshire in an effective and timely manner.
Qualifications
Essential
- Registration with Health and Care Professions Council.
- Podiatry Degree/Honours/Diploma in Podiatric Medicine.
- Local Analgesia Administration certificate.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Candidates should demonstrate sound clinical knowledge of the management of pathology including diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, renal and rheumatological conditions.
- Candidates should possess good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with staff at all levels in the organisation and to communicate with patients who will have varied levels of understanding.
- Post holder must be able to produce, document, implement and evaluate care plans
- To demonstrate the ability the use a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment equipment e.g. Dopplers, monofilaments, biomechanical apparatus, minor surgery instruments, drills and scalpels etc.

- Awareness of the roles of other professionals working in the multidisciplinary team
