An
exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of our large pharmacy team at
Shrewsbury PCN. We are actively
recruiting with our partner Shropshire Community Trust, where the
Medicines Management Team has a long-standing history of delivering high
quality services to support the community.
This is a permanent role with clinical and leadership opportunities.
At
Shrewsbury PCN we have an established clinical team to help to deliver the
Direct Enhanced Service (DES) for our patients. Our PCN is made up of 15 practices
and you will be allocated dedicated practices, in addition, you will also spend
time working at the hub in Shrewsbury business park and local care homes within
the network.
- Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job
Your clinical work will involve the management of long-term conditions, structured medication reviews, deprescribing and supporting staff with medication queries. In addition to this, we are also undertaking some exciting work with our patients that take high dose opiates or gabapentoids for chronic pain to ensure dosing is safe as per NHS England guidance to reduce mortality due to the overuse of these agents.
You will be an experienced clinical pharmacist and hold a prescribing qualification. You will supervise and manage the pharmacy technicians and clinical pharmacists within your team. You will be a key member of the practice teams and an integral part of the team working across the network.
You will be supported with your training and developmental needs. The Trust and PCN will provide:
- one to one mentorship with a dedicated GP during induction phase
- regular team meetings focussing on group-based learning to support clinical knowledge
- a senior management team with a clinical background
- peer mentorship from our Principal Pharmacist
- regular access to clinical supervision
- access to CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (if not already completed)

- Masters degree in pharmacy or equivalent
- Mandatory registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Independent prescriber or currently working towards with completion of qualification within 3 months
- Postgraduate clinical qualification and/or significant relevant clinical experience to demonstrate similar level of knowledge
Experience

- Significant post-qualification experience
- Experience of working with the elderly, or patients in residential institutions
- Experience of staff line management and development of people

- In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-- based healthcare
