Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Clinic and Domiciliary Phlebotomy service when required with opportunity to work in clinic. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Phlebotomist, be extremely well organised, flexible, approachable, professional and above all compassionate to the needs of both patients and team members within the service and other health professionals. You will need to have a good sense of humour in order to blend well within the team, and a calm and considered approach to your work. Main duties of the job

  • Undertake venepuncture from patients in the blood clinic or a domicile community setting home visits.
  • The phlebotomist will be expected to bleed one patient every 7- 8 minutes while working in the clinic.
  • Tomaintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to deliver a quality service that is responsive to the needs of
  • To use opportunistic opportunities to promote health that will help tomaintain a person's health and level of self-care.
  • To report any changes in condition of the patient to the Team Leader or in their absence the designated Phlebotomist in charge.
  • To complete all documents accurately and with concise information as per local guidelines.

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3)
  • A recognised equivalent course
  • Phlebotomy Course
  • Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate

Desirable

  • GCSE grade 9 - 4 or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Registration with the national regulatory body (when it becomes available).

Experience

Essential

  • Previous phlebotomy experience
  • Current experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Current experience of working with indirect supervision
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases.

Desirable

  • Experience of working as a phlebotomist for at least 6 months
  • Experience with the NHS patient information database

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of community practice to include venepuncture, monitoring of blood pressure.
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of monitoring of blood pressure; taking urine samples
