Job summary
Lead the dietetic service and dietetic colleagues within the Merton Adult Community Dietetic Service, To provide a specialist clinical Dietetic Service, which contributes to the strategic planning and delivery of the multidisciplinary Community Dietetic Service in line with the strategic direction of the Service and Trust objectives.
- Provide specialist assessment and treatment of clients, at triage provide expert advice to medical practitioners on, ACBS products (e.g., nutritional supplements, gluten-free products), and vitamin and mineral preparations which are available
- Liaise with other agencies and health professionals and maintain accurate clinical records.
- Lead on the recruitment, development and competency assessment of Dietitians at Band 5 and Band 6 level.
- Develop and/or signpost to reputable high-quality resources that colleagues within the MDT can utilise to support clinical practice as required
- Lead on specific dietetic clinical audit and/or research projects for the multidisciplinary Community Service to inform Clinical Governance strategy and service developmen
Main duties of the job
- To work autonomously to provide expert advice to HEF patients and oral nutrition support advice and therapeutic support to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals via domiciliary, clinic and care home visits. This will require collation of complex information including nutritional assessment, diagnosis and interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometry, clinical condition, and diet history, using evidence-based guidelines and the development of treatment plans (calculation of nutritional requirements and client-centered goals) using evidence-based outcomes.
- Be professionally accountable for all work undertaken and to practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy.
- Provide clinical advice and expertise to colleagues to ensure that evidence based best practice is promoted and delivered in order to reduce the risk to patients, and that the safety of the patient's journey is maximised.
- Support staff as required in the management of challenging situations.
