Bank Healthcare Support Worker (Sexual Health)

Job summary

4 days per week 0800-1800 or 5 days 0900-1700

To provide high standards of care to patients with sexual health needs and to ensure the smooth running of the clinical environment. The post holder will be required to deliver care, under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Medical Doctor within community based sexual health clinics.

Further Information and General Responsibilities:

  • The service runs 5 days per week between 8am and 6pm. - 4 days per week 0800-1800 or 5 days 0900-1700
  • The post holder may be required to work in any of the sites covered by the service in line with service development and need.

Main duties of the job

  • To utilise basic health observation techniques to monitor patients' health status as appropriate and directed by senior staff, reporting back findings.
  • To provide care to patients with challenging behaviour by maintaining a calm safe environment and reporting back to the nurse/therapist as indicated.
  • To be comfortable in discussing sexual matters and understand the needs of sexually active young people.
  • To ensure all aspects of work are carried out to a high clinical standard and be accountable for this through the senior staff
  • To maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to patient's attendance and maintain that confidentiality does not expire with the passage of time.
  • To always ensure the maintenance of patients' privacy, dignity, and confidentiality, promoting and supporting patients' rights and choices with regards to their care.

Essential

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) or
  • A recognised equivalent course
  • Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate

Desirable

  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Registration with the national regulatory body (when it becomes available).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) with experience of inputting to databases, spreadsheets and/or other IT systems and business applications used in the office environment
