Job summary
The post-holder will provide expert nursing advice in specialist continence care, acting as a resource for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals. They will manage a complex clinical caseload, contribute to policy development, and participate in audits and research in line with national and departmental guidelines. The role involves supporting the integration of services across primary, community, and secondary care, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and delivering educational programs to healthcare staff. Additionally, the post-holder will oversee the pad home delivery service, ensure effective communication with service providers, and contribute to training strategies, evaluating all training for quality and effectiveness. Strong resilience and the ability to manage stressful situations are essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
To provide robust and credible specialist continence nursing care under the direction of the Clinical LeadTo provide evidence-based holistic care to patients/carers with promotion of continence needsTo work within the Adult Bladder & Bowel Service Specialist Team providing assessment, management plans and clinical care of a high standard to patients, for bladder and/or bowel dysfunction, in their own homes, Residential, Nursing and Care Homes and clinic bases.In conjunction with the Community Nursing Services to contribute to planning and developing of educational initiatives for internal and external partners such as District Nursing and Residential/Nursing home teams.To support the service with administration duties to include ordering stock, clinical systems, new patient referral data inputting, clinic and home visit appointments bookings and any other administration duties as required.To provide training for patients, carers, family members and staff in Residential, Nursing and Care Homes on aspects of continence promotion and incontinence management and their management and careTo work with the service lead to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how the service is managed within allocated budget.To ensure contractual obligations are met in line with commissioners' intentions.To work in line with Trust Policies and Procedures and NMC Scope of Conduct.
