Bladder and Bowel Nursery Nurse

Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Brent Children's Community Nursing Team as a Bladder and Bowel Care Specialist Nursery Nurse with additional responsibility for administration tasks for the service

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic full time Band 4 Nursery Nurse.

This post offers a great opportunity for an experienced Nursery Nurse to further develop their skills within the community setting

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the Brent Children's Community Nursing Team, taking overall responsibility to provide education and training to early years settings, schools and carers. (Family Wellbeing Centres, Pre-Schools, Nurseries) and to provide support to children and young people who are experiencing issues with their bladder and/or bowel.

The post holder is required to work closely within a multi-disciplinary setting. The Brent Children's Continence Service will run clinics 9-5pm, Mon - Saturday

  • N.N.E.B./ BTEC Diploma in Child Care or NVQ in Child Care level 3 or equivalent

Desirable

  • Educated to Diploma level in a health-related subject.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and families in a formal health, educational or social care setting
  • Evidence of ongoing training in Early Years
  • Experience of working as a team member and on own

Desirable

  • Experience of leading group work
  • Experience of working in the NHS

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Basic skills in numeracy and literacy.
  • IT skills including Word, Excel
  • Ability to assess a situation, identifying any risk or potential problem and act appropriately
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of normal child development, parenting skills and the importance of play.
  • Able to make and record observations of children's behaviour and development
  • Willingness to learn new skills and put them into practice
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality
