Bladder and Bowel Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Brent Children's Community Nursing Team as a Children & Young People Bladder and Bowel Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic full time Band 7 Nurse.

The post holder will work as part of the Brent Children's Community Nursing Team, taking overall responsibility for a caseload and perform the role of team lead to junior colleagues. The post holder is required to work closely within a multi-disciplinary setting. The Brent Children's Continence Service will run clinics 9-5pm, Mon - Saturday. Nurse prescribing competency would be an advantage.

This post offers a great opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to further develop their management skills within the community setting

Main duties of the job

  • To provide expert clinical leadership within a highly specialised area of children's Bladder and Bowel continence service across Brent.
  • To line manage and support a team of clinicians.
  • To be actively involved in the development, implementation, provision, monitoring, and evaluation of the service
  • Ensuring the Service provision within the specialist area is responsive to local capacity and demand.
  • To work with members of the special school service and mainstream schools as well as the 0-19 universal services to ensure that continence care issues are taken into consideration wherever appropriate.
  • To co-ordinate and provide a training offer to professionals working at Tier 1
  • To work autonomously to provide evidence based, comprehensive, advanced assessment / reassessments and treatments for patients virtually and in their own homes and in clinic base settings.

  • Registered Nurse Child
  • Educated to degree level in nursing or health related field or equivalent
  • Have a minimum of two years post registration experience working in the acute sector or in the community
  • Post qualification in health visiting/school nursing or other health related subject

  • Qualification in counselling/trauma

Experience

  • Working with children, adolescents and families in a range of health settings
  • Teaching groups and individuals
  • Working with other agencies statutory and voluntary
