Job summary
Leading, influencing and delivering a comprehensive Health Visiting service in line with the Healthy Child Programme and local service specifications for health visiting that meets the public health needs of local communities.
You will undertake the Health Visitor role for 80% of your clinical time. 20% of your role will be dedicated to working within a structured 6-9 month work-based programme working under the supervision of the Public Health Nurse Consultant. You will identify, design and manage a project focusing on health at a population level, looking at ways to make communities and environments healthier, reducing ill-health and tackling health inequalities.
Main duties of the job

- Measure, monitor and report population health and wellbeing; health needs, risks, and inequalities; for a specific chosen area of your work
- Audit, evaluate and re-design services and interventions for a specific chosen area of your work to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities
- Work with, and through, policies and strategies to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities

- Registered Nurse/Health Visitor (SCPHN) with current UK NMC registration
- Evidence of continuing post-registration education and training
- Practice assessor/supervisor training or working towards
Experience

- Be able to co-ordinate health promotion initiatives in line with local and national health improvement targets
- Experience of working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and inter-agency working
- Experience of organising and managing own workload and that of others
- Experience of assessing, planning and implementing programmes of care and writing care plans
- Experience in providing practice based learning support to others
- Experience of evidence based care
- Experience of supervising staff / students
Skills

- Knowledge of current health and social care agenda relevant to area of work and professional practice
- Knowledge of current health legislation, including Change for Children agenda, Children's Plan etc.
- Current knowledge of child protection issues
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
