A vacancy has arisen for a Materials Management & Buying Director role to have overall responsibility for management, leadership, and strategic direction of all the Materials Management and Buying/Catalogues functionality on behalf of the North West London Procurement Services (NWLPS), ensuring that NWL members obtain excellent customer service, best value for money and compliance with NWLPS governance. The Materials Management & Buying division.

Main duties of the job

NWL Procurement Services ("NWL PS") is part of Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and provides procurement and supply chain management services across all members ("NWL Members").

The Materials Management & Buying Director has overall accountability for management and leadership of the Deliver function of the NWL Procurement Services ("NWL PS") ensuring that materials management and all buying activity is delivered to provide NWL Members with excellent customer service, best value for money and compliance with NWL PS governance.

This includes the provision of expert direction to the Materials Management teams to ensure the excellent service is provided to NWL Members. The Materials Management & Buying Director shall be accountable and must ensure monitoring and measurement of performance of the Materials Management team against key areas identified in the Service Level Agreement and internal performance measurement metrics.

The Materials Management & Buying Director shall be the professional lead for materials management in NWL PS and lead the operational management of the buying and catalogue team, as supported by the Head of Buying and Catalogues in the identification and delivery of change projects to improve the service and enhance service efficiency.

  • A postgraduate degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration (supply chain and Procurement focus) or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge over more than one discipline / function acquired over a significant period
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or Institute of Logistics & Transport
  • Lean six sigma green belt or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Significant Senior Management experience, leading Materials Management teams at a strategic level
  • Significant experience of realising benefits from automation or RPA projects
  • Experience of complex change management
  • Specific and demonstrable leadership experience of sourcing as required for the role, including evidence of significant savings delivered
  • Experience of leading and being accountable for development of business plans, strategies
  • Experience of having responsibility for budget setting and management
  • Significant experience in line management of large teams and major activity areas
