We are looking for a part time health care assistant in our busy Sexual Health Clinic in Watford. Sexual Health Hertfordshire is commissioned to deliver genitourinary medicine, contraception care within the community. If this interests you, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please note, this is a permanent contract vacancy.

Required skills for this role include:

Care Certificate or willingness to undertake.

The ability to cope under pressure

Excellent communication skills

Empathy and are non-judgemental

Teamwork

Venepuncture skills

The salary is Band 3, 30 hrs per week

Main duties of the job

Assist in the provision of GUM/Contraception/HIV care to patients, supporting and supervised by a registered nurse.

Carry out assigned duties which maintain a quality clinical service, orderliness and safety of the departmental environment.

Fulfil any clerical duties.

To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.

Essential

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) or a recognized equivalent course and a willingness to undertake further training as appropriate.

Desirable

  • Phlebotomy skills

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with the general public in a customer or client-facing role
  • Experience of inputting to databases, spread sheets and/or other IT Systems and business applications used in the office environment

Desirable

  • Experience of working with patients and carers in a public sector environment
  • Experience of working in a health care environment

  • Competent in the use of IT systems for booking and registering patients
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
