Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse who is passionate about developing the skills to become a Nurse Practitioner.

You will be part of our dynamic team which has a broad scope of advanced practice in delivering same day/urgent care services. The role will be highly supported whilst you develop the skills required to work autonomously.

Uplift to a band 7 when working as an autonomous Nurse Practitioner, and completed appropriate training, supervision & competencies.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Walk-in Centre team in the service delivery and management ofpatients in unscheduled care, by providing high quality, evidence-based care tomeet the health and social care needs of the local population

To work with the Walk in Centre (WiC) clinical practitioner team and develop theskills and theoretical knowledge required to become a competent, autonomousnurse practitioner

The post holder is required to undergo training in enhanced practicethat will ultimately enable them to undertake a full assessment of patients; this includes, history taking, physical assessment and other enhanced practice skills that are required for making autonomous decisions in relation to unscheduled patient care

The post holder is required to work hours that can be deemed as unsocial. No night shifts.

  • RGN : Current valid registration with N.M.C on relevant part of the register
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Desirable

  • Teaching /Mentoring qualification or evidence of informal/formal teaching
  • Accredited minor injuries & minor ailments course
  • Accredited physical assessment course

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of recent and relevant post- registration nursing experience at a Band 5 in A&E, or rapid response/first contact setting
  • Post registration experience

  • Independent/supplementary Nurse Prescribing

  • A working knowledge of clinical governance and evidence-based practice
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge of audit.
