Job summary
Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) NHS Trust has been providing Community and Specialist Dental Services including Community Dental Services, Homeless Dental Service, Oral Health Promotion, Emergency Dental Services and Specialist Services. It runs services in Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster.
CLCH provides a Consultant Led Specialist Dental Service offering complex Tier 3 Endodontics undertaken under local anaesthesia in a community-based setting within the structure of a larger care pathway.
From November 1st 2024, the Endodontic Service will comprise:
Consultant Endodontist 0.6 WTE (vacant)
Specialists in Endodontics 0.6 WTE
Senior Dental Officers 0.6 WTE
Comprehensive surgical support and teaching is provided by a Consultant Led Oral Surgery department.
The work is undertaken from within state-of-the-art units based in the community from the following locations:
Parsons Green Health Centre, Parsons Green.
Soho Health Centre, Westminster.
The number of sites offering endodontics within the service may expand in the future.
The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Director for Community and Specialist Dental Services and ultimately the Medical Director of CLCH.
Main duties of the job
To work together with the other colleagues to provide a service for Specialist Endodontics.This includes all aspects of postgraduate training, treatment and relevant line management of colleagues.
Provide clinical supervision of junior staff, postgraduate students or as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to CPD and clinical governance initiatives.
Contribute to departmental or trust research interests.
Contribute to the audit programmes, clinical governance programs and learning from complaints, compliments and incidents.
Take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the department's/ Division's Business Plan. This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and providing a value for money service.
Conduct all activities within the contracted level of service.
Exercise professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty.
Work in conjunction with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained and their job satisfaction is enhanced. This may include involvement in the appraisal process for peers and/or junior colleagues.
Undertake Divisional management duties as agreed with the Divisional/departmental Manager/Clinical Director.
