Job summary

JOB PURPOSEThe Practice Development Nurse will work within their designated service working closely with the Academy team and the Locality Manager to plan, implement and evaluate the development of staff. They will work with designated teams to coordinate and embed learning and development ensuring that staff are competenct and capable to undertake their roles.

The Practice Development Nurse will work with the Acadamey team and the Locality Manager to identify learning needs, plan and implement any training required and continuously evaluate staff competence ensuring that development is aligned to and informs local and national priorities.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Development Nurse will be expected to:

Promote high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical expertise

Facilitate the creation of a positive learning environment in the work place where staff development is encouraged and supported

Facilitate the induction, education and continuing professional development for all levels of registered and non-registered nursing staff within the Nursing Teams

Work alongside staff in individual teams undertaking a key role in practice development

Translate Academy priorities such as changes in nursing standards, new clinical roles such as Apprentriceships into their designated service

To link with internal leads including the transformation team, human resources and the Academy team in planning, implementing and evaluating actions and outcomes

To implement a process of effective communication within teams, ensuring that staff are able to inform developments and contribute to change
