Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Domiciliary phlebotomy service when required with opportunity to work in clinic.Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Phlebotomist , be extremely well organised, flexible, approachable, professional and above all compassionate to the needs of both patients and team members within the service and other health professionals.

You will need to have a good sense of humour in order to blend well within the team, and a calm and considered approach to your work.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake venepuncture from patients in the blood clinic or a domicile community setting home visits.
  • The phlebotomist will be expected to bleed one patient every 8 minutes while working in the clinic.
  • To maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to deliver a quality service that is responsive to the needs of
  • To use opportunistic opportunities to promote health that will help to maintain a person's health and level of self-care.
  • To report any changes in condition of the patient to the Team Leader or in their absence the designated Phlebotomist in charge.
  • To complete all documents accurately and with concise information as per local guidelines.

Education/Qualification

Essential

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) or a recognised equivalent course Phlebotomy Course

Desirable

  • Train the Trainer Qualification or willing to undertake

Experience

Essential

  • Previous phlebotomy experience
  • Current experience of working in a health or social care setting
  • Current experience of working under indirect supervision

Desirable

  • oExperience of working as a Phlebotomist for at least 6 months

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • To be able to promote the work of the team across the trust.
  • Self-management skills-managing time and workload .
  • Ability to cope with uncertainty and change .
  • Ability to access a situation, identifying any risk or potential problem and act appropriately
  • Demonstrate an understanding of what is meant by equal opportunities and able to apply knowledge to their practice
  • Basic IT computer skills required for the post, including clinical documentation and data entry
  • Must own or have access to a car to drive around the Barnet community area
  • The applicant would need to be able to use a map and SAT NAV to navigate to patient's homes
  • Appropriate level of physical fitness to perform the job (as outlined in the job description) with or without adaptations
  • Able to provide evidence of where you have demonstrated the Trust's Values and Behaviours
