An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced or newly qualified Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient rehabilitation team at Athlone Rehabilitation Unit.

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic individual, with a passion for rehabilitation to join our multidisciplinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering holistic client centred evidence based care within an in-patient rehab unit with senior Occupational Therapy leadership to support your ongoing development.

Our Occupational Therapy position is based at the Athlone Rehabilitation Unit. Athlone is a 22 bedded unit, accepting adult clients with a variety of conditions/diagnoses including orthopaedics, elderly care, episodes of acute illness and long stays in acute hospital, and long term neurological conditions.

You will have a role in actively developing your Occupational Therapy practice and deliver evidence based rehabilitation and assessments for clients during their inpatient rehabilitation stay.

The successful post holder will be supported by our multidisciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Nurses, Rehabilitation Assistants, Rehabilitations Support Workers, Doctors, Dietitian and Speech and Language Therapists as well as Band 6 and Band 7 Occupational Therapists.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our team of Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is passionate about helping patients to improve their quality of life and helping staff to develop in their roles, and who can collaborate well with the team.

You will be working with a dedicated multidisciplinary team that includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, SALT, Dieticians, Nurses, Doctors and Social Workers.

As a developing service, there are ample opportunities for service development and building supervision and leadership competencies. Formal development and training opportunities are available through the CLCH Academy. Close links are maintained with the other bed based rehabilitation units within CLCH to support service development and share learning.

This post is 37.5 hours a week . In the future there will be seven-day working on the unit.
