Job summary

The opportunity has arisen to join us as Clinical Director in the ONW Division in CLCH. The Division covers Harrow adult services, Brent adult and children's services and Ealing 0-19 services. This role is provisionally for 6 months with scope to possibly extend. PA's are negotiable starting with 4 PA's but plans to increase. The Clinical Director role supports ourwork with partners at place and as part of the Integrated Care System.

CLCH has well established clinical director roles which work within divisions supporting the delivery of high quality services, in particular the clinical directors work with doctors and dentists within that division, engaging with them to drive improvement and assuring safety.This is a key role for an enthusiastic, relational leader who has the ability to work with the wider system whilst at the same time developing strong personal relationships with the diverse workforce of the Division. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence and shape the development of community services within CLCH.

Main duties of the job

The individual will work on a number of exciting service developments around out of hospital care, the NW London Integrated care System priorities and how they relate to the ONW Integrated care Partnerships, resilience, specialist pathways in the community and ambulatory care delivery, in close collaboration with the senior divisional teams. This is alsoan important leadership role in designing and strengthening clinical governance systems and high quality clinical practice within CLCH in partnership with our Medical Director, Nursingand Quality teams. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the delivery of out of hospital and public health, and understanding the relationships between different components of the health and social care system.

Additionally the Trust would be willing to negotiate additional PAs for clinical work with a successful candidate, commensurate with skill and service needs.

Strategic and Service Planning

In partnership with the Divisional Director of Operations:

  • Ensure the preparation of the strategic and annual plans for the Division and contribute to the development of the Trusts strategic and annual plan.
  • Agree annual objectives for the Division which support the achievement of the Divisions plans.
  • Ensure the development of a strategy for improvement of services within the Division, which incorporates Trust initiatives including all aspects of clinical governance and the focus on the patient.
  • Work at Divisional level to develop a focus on Population health and actively searching for ways to highlight inequity and promote equality.
  • Represent the Trust at ad hoc external strategic meetings in agreement with the Medical Director

Operational Management in conjunction with the Director of Operations

  • Ensure that appropriate systems are in place for the effective delivery of patient care, teaching and research within the Division. Represent the division at operational interfaces where clinical expertise and governance is required.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of Trust policies, procedures and standards as agreed by the Trust and Executive Boards. To represent the division and the Trust for service bids and contract negotiations as agreed with the divisional director.

Corporate and Clinical Governance

  • Be responsible for the integration of operational management with the clinical governance agenda through participation in Clinical Governance committees and the Divisional Management Board.
  • Ensure Divisional compliance with national requirements including Care Quality Commission Registration. Work within the provisions of Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions and ensure that the highest standards in corporate governance and probity are maintained.
  • Together with the Divisional Director of Operations and Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapy manage complaints and incidents.
