Job summary

The Materials Management Operative is a customer-facing role requiring a strong customer service work ethic and commitment to being always proactive and positive. The role will require working in a team, operating the Trust's goods inwards / outwards systems for delivering goods to Wards and Departments. The post holder will be expected to assist customers who come to the Main Stores, checking goods received against delivery documents and picking and packing supplies as per requisitions received from Services within the Trust.

To work as part of Materials Management team to carry out Receipting and distribution of all goods ordered. To review current par levels in line with clinical activity, and scan, order and put away as per the schedule.

This is a broad summary of the role detailing key areas of operation and responsibilities - further detail will be provided in the Main Duties and Responsibilities section, below, which provides more granular detail.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be in daily contact with ward and service managers and staff within the hospital
  • Procurement - Clinical Specialists, Contracts Team, Customer Services
  • Divisional team engagement
  • Ward review meetings
  • H&S to include Major Incident
  • Finance - e-Financials Systems Team, Accounts Payable.
  • Other hospital services including Facilities, Estates
  • All levels of Trust staff

External (if applicable)

  • The post holder will also be in regular contact with the goods receiving staff and NHS Logistics teams
  • Suppliers (inc. couriers)

  • NVQ 2 or equivalent

Desirable

  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths

Experience

  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases
  • Experience of working in a busy environment
  • Manual Handling skills
  • Basic safety and proper lifting procedures
