Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) works across ten London boroughs and Hertfordshire.

We currently have a Band 3 Community phlebotomy vacancy in Wandsworth

Main duties of the job

To participate in the delivery and maintenance of an efficient Phlebotomy Service.

To demonstrate competence in venepuncture and methods of disposal of sharps, syringes and items contaminated with blood as required by the Clinical Operational manager and complying with agreed standards. (Training to meet these standards will be given to the appropriate candidate.)

To ensure that patients are treated safely and courteously at all times and experience the minimum of distress or discomfort throughout the blood sample procedure.

To ensure the accurate checking of patient details against the test requested form submitted.

To obtain by venepuncture or capillary sampling the correct blood sample(s) for the analysis as requested, following appropriate training.

To ensure that the samples(s) are correctly labelled; put into the correct containers and otherwise properly treated so as to be suitable for the analysis requested.

  • GCE General Education or equivalent
  • Basic skills in literacy Level 1 and numeracy level 2
  • Phlebotomist course.
  • All new Health Care Support Workers (Band 1-4) across the NHS are required to complete the Care Certificate programme. Newly recruited HCSW's are identified during our recruitment process but line managers have the responsibility to make sure that new support workers working within their teams are enrolled on the programme. Completing the Care Certificate ensures that support workers have the required values, behaviours, competencies and skills to provide high quality compassionate care.

Desirable

  • Diploma NVQ Health & Social Care
