Technical Instructor/Rehab Support Worker (Barnet Planned Care- One Care Home Team- CLCH NHS Trust) Permanent post - Band 4

We are the One Care Home Team, we work within care homes in Barnet to help improve the health and independence of elderly residents. We are a close supportive team and value and appreciate our staff and their individual contributions in helping us to achieve our team goals.

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and dynamic Technical Instructor/Rehab Support Worker. They should have experience in community rehabilitation and working with patients to achieve rehabilitation goals.

The One Care Home Team's purpose is to provide high-quality therapy input to residents of care homes to help them achieve their goals and maximise their functional independence.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with therapy and nursing colleagues within the team, as well as with care home staff, managers and residents. The post holder will work especially closely with the occupational therapist to prescribe appropriate equipment to residents based on need.

The successful applicant will receive regular supervision; have access to a wide range of development opportunities to support their continued professional development

Job description

Job responsibilities

To independently complete basic functional assessments with clients, incorporating analytical, investigative, and physical skills under the supervision of Qualified therapists.

To independently complete basic activity of daily living assessments, these could include personal ADLs, hot drink and meal preparation and support Occupational Therapy interventions.

To assist in completing risk assessment of the environment and safety within the home under the guidance of senior team members following local and Trust policies.

To prescribe, order issue and fit a designated range of equipment and instruct clients and carers on appropriate use, maintenance and fitting of equipment.

To develop the knowledge and understanding concerning relevant Medical conditions for example, routine Hip and Knee Replacements, Dementia, Falls, frailty, spasticity etc. to support enhanced elderly care.
