Job summary

Speech and Language Therapist - Band 5 - Full TimeEducation Service (Special Schools and ARPs, Westminster)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 SLT to join the Speech and Language Therapy Education Team at Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) NHS Trust. You will work within the onsite SLT special schools team, supporting children and young people (CYP) with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties including autistic CYP. We work in close partnership with local stakeholders to support SLC N within the Boroughs of Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster.

Main duties of the job

Join us if you want to:- Receive specific support for NQPs including increased CPD/admin time and NQP peer support groups- Access 1:1 clinical supervision and peer group supervision- Develop and hone your therapy skills including implementing a wide range of AAC within activities of the school day- Work in partnership with class teams and other members of the multi-disciplinary team- Work closely with the school senior leadership team and the other on-site SLTs to embed universal and targeted strategies and interventions within the settings- Access to training opportunities including in-house training programme- Access to a range of clinical specialists e.g. ASD, AAC and DysphagiaThe post is suitable for both experienced band 5 SLTs looking to broaden their clinical experience or Newly Qualified Therapists looking to join a highly skilled and dynamic team

Job responsibilities

To manage and prioritise own caseload independently, generating appropriate strategies for caseload management.

To assess the need for, develop, and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred within locality, and provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties as required within the role.

To assess childrens language and communication needs, and provide professional advice to contribute to statutory assessments (Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments) and the annual review process for individual children in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.

To deliver Speech and Language Therapy provision to children as specified in Education Health and Care Plans in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.

To analyse auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of childrens communication, and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness in relevant setting.
