Doctor Bedded Rehabilitation

Central London Community Health Trust

The closing date is 05 May 2024

Job summary

Bedded rehabilitation units provide patients with the opportunity to have intensive rehabilitation in a community setting with the support of 24-hour nursing care. They are thus an essential service for people who are not unwell enough to require hospital treatment but have not yet recovered enough to manage at home.

We are recruiting Doctors to work on our bedded units in North Kensington including Athlone with 22 beds, and Alexandra, located 1.2 miles away with 11 beds. As the Doctor on these units, you will work closely with nurses and therapists as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team and will be responsible for medical care for patients during their rehabilitation journey.

Planned Interview Date: March 28th 2024

Main duties of the job

Many of our patients are elderly, frail and have been stepped down following an acute hospital admission, so although medically fit for discharge they are physiologically vulnerable. This makes the role an exciting opportunity for doctors with an interest in care of the elderly, rehabilitation, general practice and acute medicine and a desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The job involves working in daytime hours in weekdays and covering weekends on a rota system, and in addition to clinical duties includes supporting colleagues, education, service improvement and system facing duties including liaising with hospital and community colleagues.

This is an opportunity to provide leadership to a service at a time in which systems are increasingly focusing on integration, and to help us not only build our team on the unit but also build pathways to community teams within local PCNs.

We recognize that many doctors want to combine areas of interest as part of a portfolio career, so are open to applications from people wishing to work less than full-time and will support the right candidate to develop their clinical and leadership skills where necessary.

We are looking for people who have a passion for working in this field and want to join our friendly team, so if this is you- please get in touch, we'd be happy to arrange an informal visit.

Please contact Rachel Dines, Head of Clinical Services, rachel.dines1@nhs.net to discuss the role or arrange a visit
