Community Dental Officer - Paediatric Dentistry

An exciting opportunity has arisen within CLCH Community & Specialist Dental Service for a 3 day per week ( 22.5 hrs ) Band A Dentist in Paediatric Dentistry

This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of a large, professional, and friendly dental team working in the well-established Community and Specialist Dental Service. The post holder will be responsible for treating children referred into the service and will be well supported by our Paediatric Specialist and Senior Paediatric Dentists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the Community and Specialist Dental Service Team delivering dental care and advice to children attending the Community Dental Service

The post holder may be required to provide:

Preventive care and advice.
Dental treatment which may include care under sedation.
Participate in epidemiological surveys and school screenings.
Liaise with a range of social and other health care personnel and agencies to ensure the effective management of and delivery of care to patients with specific requirements.

Job responsibilities

Undertake thorough examination, diagnosis and assessment of patients.
Carry out treatment planning and care management for a range of patients.
To plan, develop, implement and evaluate appropriate interventions to prevent disease and promote health for individual patients.
To identify commonly occurring medical emergencies and lead the dental team in the appropriate first line management of the emergency, using appropriate techniques, equipment and drugs.
To use appropriate local anaesthetic and patient management approaches to control pain and anxiety during dental treatment.
