Are you a newly qualified or experienced band 5 nurse working or looking to work in a community clinic setting? If so, we would love for you to join us in our Community Treatment Unit (CTU) based at St. Albans City Hospital.
The Community Treatment Unit (CTU) is a CLCH nurse-led community clinic. We provide a variety of planned clinical treatments for ambulant adult patients living in Herts Valley including IV infusions, blood transfusions, venesections, urinary catheters and rocket drainage. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic band 5 nurse who is eager to learn and be part of our team!
The aim of the service is to maintain the safe delivery of care and services on behalf of specialist services, acute trusts, GPs and Community nurses within the local area.
Our unit is open 5 days a week, 0830-1630, Monday-Friday. We do not work weekends or bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
All pathways are delivered within the clinic at St Albans City Hospital.
- CTU focuses on supporting acute trusts and community nursing teams, by providing treatments for ambulant patients, that would otherwise be carried out in the acute hospital or in patients homes
- CTU works closely with Consultants and Specialist teams from West Herts Teaching Hospitals Trust (WHTHT) to ensure that treatments are delivered according to clinical needs
- The aims of CTU are to ensure that referrals are triaged within 48 hours and that all patients and carers are cared for and supported from the time their appointment is made, until their treatment is complete
- We are a small and strong team, compromising of a band 7 Team Lead, three band 5 Nurses and a band 3 Health Care Assistant. We work integrated with WHTHT to facilitate the daily running of the unit. We also have very strong connections with other community services within CLCH, and acute trusts, to delivering care over shared pathways.
We would welcome candidates who are newly qualified band 5 nurses, or those with band 5 experience, who are looking to work as part of a team within a clinic setting. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be honest, trustworthy and have a sense of humour.
Commitment to undergo additional link-nurse roles is expected. The role requires you to be able to keep accurate clinical records and have good clerical/administrative skills.
