We have an exciting new opportunity to support the Nutrition & Dietetics service in the London Borough of Brent in the role of Nutrition & Dietetic Assistant. This role will provide you with a wide portfolio of experience across both children and adult dietetic services.
You will have an interest in the role of nutrition to improve health outcomes for patients and will have worked with the public in a patient-facing role. A degree in Nutrition is desirable but we will also consider your application if you can show evidence that you have experience / training in a nutrition-related field. This is a permanent full-time role.
Main duties of the job
You will work with a team of 15 dietitians and an administrator. Your role will be to support the service in delivering optimum care to our patients. This will include responsibility for safely processing new enterally fed patients, weighing patients and taking anthropometric measurements, assisting the dietitians with patient queries, administration of patient groups and supporting the delivery of training sessions.
In Brent, Nutrition & Dietetics employ a highly skilled, motivated and friendly team of dietitians. We actively promote continuous professional development and you will have a Clinical Supervisor to ensure that you have the opportunity to develop your skills within the role. The team participates in regular audit, research and student training.You will attend regular Peer Support sessions and Team Meetings.

To work independently under the supervision of Specialist Dietitians to undertake clinical and administrative tasks to support the development and delivery of the Nutrition & Dietetics Service.
To oversee the processing of new enteral feeding referrals, ensuring that the necessary urgent actions are undertaken and that any delays are raised with the Nutrition Support Lead Dietitian at the earliest opportunity.
To support the dietitians when enteral feed shortages are notified (includes identifying patients impacted, amending delivery information, liaising with GPs and patients).
To effectively manage a caseload of patients in the community requiring weight checks this may include booking patients into either group sessions or travelling to patient homes.
To be responsible for organising own delegated clinical work load, administrative tasks, activities and to be flexible to the needs of the service
To work within an agreed framework for dealing with routine and urgent clinical problems/interactions, face to face or on the telephone, seeking guidance from the Dietitians to agree action as required.
To support Dietitians in delivery of training activities, including training at care homes.
To participate in clinical governance activities within the Nutrition and Dietetics Service.
