Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within CLCH Community & Specialist Dental Service to join our team for a two-year fixed-term dental therapy post.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and adaptable dental therapist to join our highly motivated, professional, and supportive team.

The post-holder will deliver clinical dental therapy, preventive oral health care, and oral health promotion to patients within the clinic and domiciliary settings as well as take part in the oral health improvement pilot in care homes.

Main duties of the job

The Community and Specialist Dental services provide dental care for children and adults with extra needs or patients who are referred for specialist dental procedures.

The post holder will be an inclusive part of the Dental Therapy team and support the development of Dental Therapy services in CLCH.

Provision of a specific range of permitted clinical treatments for patients as defined in the scope of a therapist by the General Dental Council in clinics as well as domiciliary settings for housebound patients when required.

Demonstrate highly professional clinical and preventive oral health skills whilst showing empathy to the requirements of different groups and individuals.

  • Perform the full range of clinical dental therapy procedures currently permitted under General Dental Council regulations working from a written treatment plan from the dentist/specialist dentist/ consultant
  • Intra and extra-oral assessment
  • Record indices and monitor dental disease
  • Scaling and polishing of teeth
  • Take dental radiographs
