Job summary

CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!

We are looking for a number Band 3 Healthcare Assistants (HCA), who can join and become part of our Adult Care Services Multi-disciplinary Team at Holywell Neurological Unit.

The Healthcare Assistant will provide a mixture of general and specific care to a group of patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse.

The post holder will be expected to become proficient and competent in their area of practice by undertaking competency assessments specific to the area of clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

The HCA will promote optimum independence and individualised client centred care to a delegated caseload.

Duties include;

  • To contribute to the on-going assessment of a patient by completing the appropriate paperwork for allocated patients, recording, and reporting all clinical and behavioural information to the nurse or therapist for action and planning purposes.
  • To undertake, and report back on delegated clinical activities that have previously been signed competent. Eg: vital signs, routine urinalysis, glucose monitoring.
  • To enable patients/carers to make most effective use of resources within the service by ensuring they receive up-to-date information sheets, responding to any questions constructively
  • To pass onto/seek assistance from other colleagues, promptly, any questions that you are unable to resolve

  • Willing to participate in any relevant training/qualification identified to develop skills required to carry out duties.
  • Care qualification to NVQ 3 or equivalent experience
  • GCSEs Grade 9 - 4 in Maths and English or equivalent

Desirable

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) or a recognised equivalent course. oGCSE grade 9 - 4 or equivalent in English and Maths.
